What happens I offer a piece of land?
We will advertise you apiary to club members via the newsletter. If you provide contact details, we can then leave members to get in contact.
What do I need to provide?
Most beekeepers are looking for a area of land which has close access by car and is secluded from public throughfares / risk of vandalism. The immediate flora is not of concern, bees fly up to three miles and many city beekeepers keep their bees quite successfully on the roofs of flats and apartments.
What do I get out it?
Well, you help the environment as bees are valuble pollinators for local plants. You may wish to negoiate but a typical rent would be one to two jars per hive per year. So the more space you provide, the more honey you will get!
What if the bees cause a problem?
Beekeepers are good natured people and would move bees, if they were found to be causing problems.
What about insurance?
Membership of Reigate beekeepers includes a subscription to the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA) and this includes insurance.
