WBC Hives in the snow

A lovely picture of Audreys hives in the snow!

Eggs at base of wax comb cells

This picture shows eggs (and a larvar on the left) at the base of a cell. It also shows how the cells on the opposite side, meet at the central point. (The eggs look like small pieces of white cottom just a fraction of an inch long).

Wasps hatching from their brood nest

Although not really related to beekeeping, the picture shows wasps hatching from their broodnest. They also use a hexagon cell structure although its made from wood pulp rather than beeswax.

A hive of bees that has taken up residence in a log

RBKA Member Richard Woodhouse looks at our log hive. This was delivered to us by some tree surgeons who found the colony in a tree that was being removed. A section of trunk was chopped out and delivered to our club apiary.
